Would Ragnarök/Surtur even be capable of destroying the Tesseract?

At the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, after Thanos announces that he is looking for the Tesseract/Space Stone, Thor informs Thanos that the Tesseract was destroyed on Asgard when Surtur carried out Ragnarök.
Would that have been enough to destroy the Tesseract and Infinity Stone inside, or could Thanos have have just swung by after the destruction and grabbed the Stone had Loki not swiped it earlier? The only indication we have that Infinity Stones can be destroyed is with the Mind Stone, and only because Scarlet Witch's abilities are derived from it, which wouldn't be applicable to Surtur and the Space Stone.

Tesseract Yes, Space Stone inside Tesseract No. Infinity Stones should be indestructibles.
"Sire, the Aether, shall we destroy it?"
"If only we could, but its power is too great. Bury it deep. Somewhere no one will ever find it." — Einherjar & Bor [Thor: the Dark World]

Infinity Stones are indestructible? tell that to Scarlet Witch. And the quote by The Collector, i'd like to know how it help answer the question.

As other users have said I’m not quite sure how the Collectors quote actually answers the question or how it helps your answer.

@Shreedhar - Wanda used the power of the Reality Stone in her attempt to destroy the Mind Stone, so while technically correct that the stones are destructible, they are effectively indestructible without another stone (it seems)

@NKCampbell Wanda's abilities come from the Mind Stone, not the Reality Stone. Her only encounter with the Reality Stone would have been Thanos attacking her with it (can't remember what exactly Thanos attacked her with). Of course, that still doesn't necessarily preclude that a Stone (or a power derived from one) is needed to destroy a Stone.

@JimmyM - that's correct! I conflated her power's coloring manifestation w/ that stone. Good call
