Why do children of Robert's Rebellion call John Snow what they're calling him?

OK word is out that John Snow is the

legitimate son of Rhaegar and Lianna.

However for anyone who is part of Robert's Rebellion

the thrown passed to House Baratheon and rightfully so given that the Targaryen King was burning his subjects alive.

Yet Bran Stark, and that Tarly guy and a few others says he's

rightful heir to the Iron Thrown.

Can anyone explain this?
