What's the correct form of use the real coded genetic algorithm?

i'm new with the ga and i can't found specific info about the real coded ga, i want to do an antennas array optimization by using the real values of antennas position , phase and amplitude, but in my research i've been founding with examples in binary coded, which seems easy in the crossover part but with real values i don't understand how to apply this step.
I've been using an error value as a fitness function obtaining a vector with all the error data and using this to selection the new poblation all this in matlab .
I hope i described the problem properly, if someone has an article of an idea please share it since i've been a little stressed for this code.
Thanks for your time
