Iacobus Cook
Iacobus Cook Praefectus (7 Novembris[1]1728—14 Februarii 1779), fuit explorator, navigator, et cartographus Britannicus, atque socius Regalis Societatis, qui gradum praefecti navalis in Regia Classi ad extremum adsecutus est. Cook tabulas Terrae Novae descripsit antequam tres navigationes ad Oceanum Pacificum fecit, dum primum contactum Europaeum orientalis Australiae litoris et Insularum Havaianarum et primam Novae Zelandiae circumnavigationem certam fecit,[2] et multas alias insulas Pacificas adivit. Orbem terrarum bis circumnavigavit.
Cook iuvenis[3] se classi mercatoriae Britannicae coniunxit, et Regiae Classi anno 1755. Bellavit in Bello Annorum Septem, et deinde, per obsidionem Quebeci, mensuram egit, descripsitque aditús Fluminis Sancti Laurentii tabulas quae Iacobo Wolfe Generali facultatem fecit ut celeberrimam oppugnationem furtivam in Planitie Abrahami faceret.
