Is the “blue-eyed” thing for cyborgs only?

-1

This is a difficult question to ask, because I don't want to spoil while asking it, and I don't want to be spoilt by the answer.

From my understanding, when Vector and Chiren are checking out the damage on Grewishka, Chiren says something about a module in his brain which allows 'remote access'. Following this

Grewishka's eyes go blue and Nova does that talking through someone else thing that he does.

From this I inferred that there was a link between the two, so when

the 'control' was transferred to Vector, I presumed that meant he was a cyborg too. So I was rather surprised when Alita killed him with a sword to the stomach.

I guess I'm asking to be reassured that this capability hasn't moved the film out of the "advanced technology" mindset into "magical woo".

Something from the mangas that might turn up in a sequel could be a future spoiler.
