Middle grade novel about two kids in an underwater city
I read this novel in 2016 in school. The target audience was probably 8-12 years old. It was in hardcover and seemed new. The cover had a dark background with blue writing or drawings. I think the name contained the word “deep.”
The story was about two kids/teenagers, a boy and a girl, one who lived above water and one who lived in an underwater city. The book took place after climate change got very extrene; people above water live in a terribly hot climate, while underwater is much nicer.
Somehow, the kids become involved with a gang or something. Near the end of the book there is a fight with harpoon guns and SCUBA gear.
