Nomen huius motus ex Impressione sole orto, titulo tabulae Claudii Monet, derivatur, unde Ludovicus Leroy, criticus artis, vocabulum divulgavit in "Exhibitio Impressionistarum," recognitione satirica in Le Charivari diario Lutetiano edita.
